North of the River

Living North of the River

What it's like to live in and around Parrish, from people who live here.

The Manatee River divides much of the county. Bradenton sits to the south and the Gulf beaches to the west; Parrish, Palmetto, Ellenton, and Terra Ceia sit to the north, with Lakewood Ranch, Myakka, and the rest of East County close by. It's where old Florida and new growth meet: horse country and cattle ranches next to brand new neighborhoods, the river on one side and the bay on the other.

This is our guide to it: the communities, what's happening this month, what's being built, and where to spend a Saturday.
